Disaster Response
Training & Volunteer Needs

Training Opportunities:

We encourage all San Diegans to register and train with their agencies of choice before the next disaster strikes.  You can start with the organizations below which fully utilize volunteer talent while offering continuous instruction in disaster preparedness and response.   You’ll become a skilled responder ready for our next local emergency or equipped to serve elsewhere in California and the country.
  • The San Diego and Imperial Counties Chapter of the American Red Cross offers ongoing classes to become a trained Disaster Volunteer.

  • Become a part of The Salvation Army Volunteer Emergency Disaster Services program.

  • Members of a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) are all-risks, all-hazards emergency responders trained to protect their families, neighbors, and neighborhoods in a broad range of incidents including major disasters.  For more information on San Diego County CERT programs, click here.
