as the Lead Agency for Global Youth Service Day 2009
in San Diego County!
Global Youth Service Day
(GYSD) is the largest service event in the world,
engaging millions of young people ages 5-25!
It promotes public awareness and education,
highlights the amazing contributions that young
people make to their communities, and supports and
encourages youth to begin on a life-long path of
service and civic engagement.
Volunteer San Diego will coordinate local and
regional celebrations of GYSD during the entire week
of April 21 - 27, 2009. During the week, many youth
and family friendly projects will be taking place, click
here to view the list of projects. Our signature
event, Servapalooza will be celebrating Global
Youth Service Day.

Servapalooza to celebrate Global Youth
Service Day.
Servapalooza is a Service Festival and
Parade of Wishes that will take place in
Balboa Park. Over 3,000 adults, teens and
families are converging in Balboa Park on
Sunday, April 26, 2009.
The Parade of Wishes will celebrate groups
making a wish for our world and participate
in a service project to grant their wish. At
the Service Festival, Service Stations will
be filled with community organizations that
have interactive hands-on service projects.
When participating in at the Service
Stations complete the free Servapalooza
passport and win a Service Hero button.
