AmeriCorps Volunteer Infrastructure Project

Through the AmeriCorps' California Volunteer Infrastructure Project (VIP), Volunteer San Diego will place nine full-time AmeriCorps members at nine local nonprofits that serve children, youth and families struggling economically. The AmeriCorps members will help develop and expand volunteer programs within these placement sites, serving from August 1, 2010 - July 31, 2011.

Program Goals

          1. Generate a minimum of 100 new volunteers (50 one-time and 50 ongoing
               volunteers) for every placement site.

          2. Provide capacity building services in the areas of volunteer recruitment and
              management to nonprofits by enabling them to increase the number of clients they
              serve, on average by 20%.

Placement Site Requirements

Placement Sites must:

          1. Be a 501 (c)3 nonprofit organization.

          2. Provide opportunities for AmeriCorps members to perform service that promotes the
              generation and support of volunteers to meet the needs of children, youth and their
              families struggling economically.
