Agency: Volunteer San Diego

Description: Click here to register for this course. Please complete registration form and return to Volunteer San Diego by November 10, 2008.

(4699 Murphy Canyon Road San Diego, CA 92123 – United Way Building)

On-Site Projects and Reflection is for anyone working with students or youth groups, this training will provide you with all you need to create successful on-site service projects. For classroom teachers, that means no permission slips or buses required. For educational non-profits, it means enhancing the learning component for students, while engaging them in projects that help meet your needs.

In this hands-on training, we will focus on the highly relevant themes of environmental education and disaster preparation to illustrate our points. During this training we will:

• model easy-to-use environmental curriculum and community needs assessment activities;

• share simple tips and fun, tried-and-true ideas for on-site projects;

• explore how different reflection activities can enhance learning for students with varying learning styles.

As always, emphasis will be on standards and there will be ample time set aside for you to begin brainstorming service-learning project plans with fellow participants.

You will also receive FREE resources, tools and on-going phone support after completion of this training.

The Engaging Students in Service Trainings are designed to be practical and highly interactive (including modeling lesson plans, group brainstorming sessions, and free curricula). Our intention is that you leave us with the tools necessary for service-learning success.

There is a $30** registration fee for the training. Trainings are appropriate for all educators: teachers, afterschool staff, administrators, principals and parents.

Checks should be made payable to Volunteer San Diego. If you decide not to attend, reimbursements will be granted no later than November 10, 2008. After that, fees become nonrefundable due to copying and other administrative costs incurred.

Trainings are subject to cancellation if there are less than 10 participants registered November 10, 2008.
